Florida Enchantments
A Solo Exhibition by Jessica BardsleyGallery X | 280 South Columbus Drive room 113
May 3 – 25,  2012
Focusing on the affective, historical, and imagined topographies of the Florida Everglades, Jessica Bardsley explores the poetics and politics of archival materials, as well as relationships between moving and still
images.  Tourists’ photographs from the early 20th century and taxidermied alligators meet with repurposed film footage and souvenirs to meditate on ties between colonialism, development, and tourism in the south of Florida. Inspired by a critical tradition of southern gothic fiction, Florida Enchantments questions how we come to understand and feel the traces of history in the current moment.-
